What is a PMD file?
A PMD file is a page layout file created with Adobe PageMaker, a program used for creating professional publications such as newsletters and brochures. It contains formatted text, images, and drawn objects. PMD files also support images created in other Adobe programs.
PMD files are used by Adobe PageMaker 6 or later. They can also be opened by Adobe InDesign, the successor to PageMaker. However, only Adobe InDesign CS6 or older will open PMD files. InDesign CC does not open PMD files.
If you want to open a PMD file in InDesign CC, you can open it in InDesign CS6 or earlier, save it as an .INDD file, then open it in InDesign CC. You can also export a PMD as a .PDF file when open in PageMaker or InDesign.

A PMD file is a spreadsheet file created by PlanMaker, a spreadsheet application included with SoftMaker Office. It contains data in cells organized in rows and columns of a spreadsheet. PMD files are similar to .XLS and .XLSX files used by Microsoft Excel.
PMD files are saved in a proprietary format and were the primary file type associated with PlanMaker until they were replaced by .PMDX files. PlanMaker still supports PMD files.
While PMD files are typically used to store data, they may also contain formulas and charts. PMD files may be converted to various formats in PlanMaker, including PMDX, .PDF, XLS, XLSX, .XLSM, .XLTX, .XLTM, .XLT, .TMD, and .RTF.

PMD files can be edited with the PMD Editor, as well as with some standard 3D modeling tools, such as Blender, Metesequoia, and Lightwave. However, note that each program requires an appropriate plugin, and the plugins are typically created in Japanese and are available from Japanese websites.
